Team Captain Responsibilities
As a Team Captain your main priority is to inform your teammates with the most up to date information, motivate them to train hard and fundraise even harder, and engage them in the Bike MS experience.
 Recruit team members. Grow your team as big as possible! We encourage our team captains to set a recruitment goal and go for it! The more people you recruit, the more awareness you raise about multiple sclerosis.- Set Goals! Fundraising to find a cure for MS is the main purpose of Bike MS. The minimum pledge requirement is $200 but we encourage everyone to go above and beyond this. Help your teammates set high goals and then help them reach them.
- Get organized. Many team captains send out emails or newsletters regularly, host or organize team parties and plan team fundraising events. E-mail us at midamericachapter@nmss.org for ideas of what to put in newsletters or team FUNdraising ideas.
- Mentor new participants. Captains should teach new participants what it means to ride in Bike MS. Get them involved in safety classes, help them fundraise, and encourage them to train…hard!
Online tools for team captains
Online team management tools provide easy ways to get statistics, search for team members and collect team rosters. Log in to your Participant Center and have complete access to your team information. With these tools, you can:
- View the entire roster
- View summary statistics
- Search or browse rosters for specific team members
- View an individual team member’s record, including fundraising
- Contact your team with just the click of a mouse
